The Nexus Multi Hit Level 111 ++ Plus Plus Plates are amongst the best available. Composed of a lightweight Combo of Ceramic, PPE and Dyneema, the Nexus Multi hit achieves its incredible performance as a result of its internal Hexagonal Mosaic tile solution. This type of internal structure allows for unparalelled Multi Hit capability, because when hit only one single 12 mm mosaic tile is damaged and the adjacent tiles absorb some of the energy and shock without cracking or loosing any of their integrity, thus allowing for enhanced Multi Hit capability and durability. As a result of their composition Nexus plates are far superior to most Multi Hit plates on the market, most monolithic plates claim to have Multi Hit capability, the reality is that each time the plate is hit it cracks reducing its strenght, if hit again close to the original impact the plate will fail, this is NOT the case with the Nexus Mosaic Tile composition, it is a genuine High Performance Multi Hit Plate

These plates are certified by the Home Office Scientific Developement Branch (HOSDB) and actually exceed the US NIJ 111 plus rating. These plates have just gone into service with UK Police Firearms Units and select Special Forces World wide.

The advantages of this type of mosaic pattern ceramic plate are numerous:
The purpose of the ceramic is to initially cause the bullet to deform, tumble, break its flight path and lose a large amount of velocity. The mosaic tile pattern allows for an improved multi-hit performance, because, when hit, it does not crack throughout the plate (as is the case in a monolithic), but damages only the adjacent tiles. This allows for a greater multi hit capability.
The mosaic tile structure allows for increased durability and resistance to shock as the tiles can move individually and absorb the shock, unlike monolithic ceramic. This allows the plate to performance in extreme field conditions without affecting the ballistic performance and also allows for less stress in storage as the energy is dispersed over many small tiles thus providing a more durable plate.
The job of the backing material is to slow down and stop the projectile, whilst controlling the blunt trauma force caused by the projectile. The backing HPPE is light and strong and can be manufactured in various thickness dependent on the protection level required.
The outer fabric covering the plate is moisture resistant and controls any minimal Spall that may be produced by an impacting projectile. The fabric maintains the integrity of the internal system while allowing for the appropriate outer markings.
